RESCUE HOUSE 2024

I trust this letter finds you well and enjoying 2024,

Here is an update on the project AgendaJesus has started and will have running this year.

We have just returned from our first trip of the year. The rescue home is a few months away from completion and everything is going as planned, thanks to all the support and prayers of those of you who are a part of this miracle.

The bottom floor is finished and currently housing two staff members and three girls that we have rescued.

Mary, who is pictured below, was our first girl who was the inspiration to build the Rescue Home. Once we rescued her from years of sexual abuse by multiple men starting at the age of ten, she was taken from us and sent to a government facility until we were able to open our own Rescue Home. This month, we were able to get her released from the government home, and she was there to cut the ribbon and open up Dot’s House (the Rescue Home).

During this trip we were able to locate two other young girls who were sisters. Joy, who is six, and Vanessa, who is three. Once we discovered all the details of their situation, our entire trip was devoted to this. Both were extremely sick with numerous issues. We connected with the guardian, who was the girl's grandmother. She shared with us that the mother of the kids had left a year ago and never returned. The Grandmother was attempting to take care of the two young girls but was struggling, to say the least. We found these girls when we were delivering food in a remote area. Vanessa was alone in the field covered in filth. Her head was infected with some type of worm, and she was obviously in pain. She was completely alone. We waited hours until Grandmother returned from her job of selling fruit on the side of the road. For whatever reason, she would leave this three-year-old child alone for hours each day while she sold fruit.

The worst news was that we found an Uncle who lived in this home with them was a confirmed child abuser. We actually had this same man arrested and brought before a jury in 2022 but were unable to have him removed from the area due to a loophole in the case. We learned a lot from this situation and now are better equipped to not only arrest these individuals with help from local law enforcement, but also permanently remove them from the area to protect the community. In this area, people are afraid to speak up against men like this, making it difficult to bring justice when these crimes are committed.

But nonetheless, we were able to remove the young girls from the home and bring them to a safe place to avoid any more harm. Joy and Vanessa are very young and trying to articulate what they may have experienced is not possible right now.

We immediately took Vanessa to the hospital to treat this infection (pictured below). The doctor also shared with us that she had Kwashiorkor, a disease seen in very severe cases of starvation and poverty-stricken regions. When we returned to the home, we investigated the situation and found she also had an older sister who would walk over three miles to and from school each day alone. This is not normal in that area.

Miriam, our house mom, is simply loving and caring for them as they heal. They are extremely happy in the home and are now clothed, fed, in school and have a loving family.

None of this would be possible without those of you who continue to support this work, and I am forever grateful for the sacrifices each of you have made to make this possible. We are currently being updated on other situations and once we are made aware of any child in danger, we will do everything in our power to remove them from these abusive situations. Dot's home is built to house twenty young girls that have been sexually abused or are in danger of sexual abuse.

Miriam and her husband Nick, are wonderful people committed to loving these girls as their own and quipped to help them heal from the trauma they have been through. Once again, every dollar given goes directly to finding these girls and taking care of them. We appreciate all the love and support you have shown to saving these young girls. More updates are coming soon!
